2 celebrity teams, 2 pasar malam stalls, 24 hours, 1 epic showdown! In each episode, celebrities are given a unique theme. To fight for the title of Pasar Malam Stars, they have to perfect their recipes, procure ingredients, prepare the food, and gear up for business – all in 24 hours!
Pasar Malam Stars is the first large scale food reality competition series to be filmed across Singapore’s popular night markets with celebrities. Each star had to undergo a proper food handling course, learn how to make a dish and sell it. More than just a TV show, the series was a hit community event that allowed the public to come down and interact with the stars on filming days.
The show enjoyed good ratings, ongoing promotion via trailers and substantial social media buzz which circulated a wide range of content beyond the official promos. Celebrities uploaded call-to-action posts to garner support and generate hype among the public.
The press and star coverage was very current. Eager fans also played a part in promoting the show and generating long lines for the food stalls.
The success of the show has led to an upcoming spinoff for the Malay market.
