For SG 50, we created the THROWBACK: BALIK KAMPONG series to celebrate the pioneering spirit of our forefathers, and family bonds.

Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, 3 Singapore families go back in time to live in a village for 3 weeks, without proper running water, gas, electricity, phones or internet! Each episode revealed how they coped with hardships, and did their best to get along. The families also had to compete in a series of challenges to earn their keep. Each week, the public were invited to vote for the winners, and which family would earn the ultimate title: “King of the Kampong.”

This successful series was the highest rated reality series on Channel 5 and ran for two seasons.
