2008 was another fruitful and busy year. We celebrated our 10th year in production in October, and completed 36 different productions and 148 different episodes of series; specials; promos and more. Diverse is a word that we use to describe our output and this year was no exception. From capturing fashionistas to food; reality to re-enactments – we covered a lot of ground in 365 days.
Among our highlights:
ANCIENT CHINESE SPORTS
To commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympics, we produced this tribute to the forgotten world of Chinese sports. Everyone knows about Chinese martial arts, but did you know that the Chinese created football as well? This was our biggest and most epic production to date, filmed on HD in China, Hong Kong and Singapore and featuring a cast of hundreds. This one-hour special premiered on the History Channel Asia, UK and Latin America; aired across China on CCTV 6 and Korea on KBS; screened at SXSW in Austin Texas, and is now in worldwide distribution by Terranoa.
SINGAPORE RACING LEGEND
On the eve of the World’s First Formula One Night Race, we premiered another fast and furious production that saluted the heroes of Singapore’s Grand Prix. Directed by Kenny Png for Mediacorp 5.
GROOM MY SCHOOL
After the hugely successful Groom My Room series, the producers evolved the show bigger and better for an entire school – well almost. The series debuts 2009 on Okto’s kids belt.
DISNEY INTERSTITIALS
If you tuned into the Disney Channel SE Asia this year, you might have seen some of our work. It was another exciting year with Disney and we filmed some cool interstitials and promos across Asia in Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Highlights included: PASS THE PLATE shot on HD for Disney’s global campaign; HIDDEN TALENTS and a HANNAH MONTANA campaign.
SPG TV
Our ongoing travel series for Starwood’s in-house channel saw us filming in New Zealand, Mumbai, Bali, Brunei and Kota Kinabalu. We also completed a PSA for Starwood’s UNICEF efforts in Bangladesh. Tune in at any Starwood hotel in the Asia Pacific region to watch: St Regis; Sheraton; Westin; Le Meredien and Four Points.
SLURP!
The deliciously manic Tan Kheng Hua made her return with The Moving Visuals Co. in her fourth series on food. Following 2 seasons of Food Chain and Table for Three, SLURP made its debut. Looking at drinks and all permutations thereof, this was another entertaining and informative series.
FASHION FORWARD
Our return to the fashion scene hosted by model Rebecca Tan, featured fashion news and a weekly makeover helmed by stylist Marcus AC. The show was produced for Mediacorp 5.
ASEAN Video plays at World Economic Forum
In Jan 2008, TMVC was commissioned by ASEAN (Association of SE Asian Nations) to do a presentation video for the World Economic Forum. Watch the video and read about it here.
MY GUARDIAN ANGEL
This Chinese series featuring people and their real life Guardian Angels was well received by the press and public alike. These dramatic and poignant stories showed how Angels helped to change the lives of those in need.
BIRTHDAY PALS
This novel series looks at 2 different individuals who share the same birthday and the different lives they lead.
